[ Things are good. Really good. Super good. Everyone in the precinct can tell Hank and Gavin are dating, there's no doubt about that, and Gavin moves into Hank's house, Mordy and all. Being mated, as it turns out, is awesome. It's the happiest and most stable Hank has ever felt in his life -- sometimes it's hard to believe they still have to lock themselves in the basement on the full moon. It doesn't feel like a curse.
It feels like he could spend the rest of his life with Gavin. Hank has a pack now, and he's figuring out this werewolf thing, which is probably going to turn into more responsibilities really soon, what with the uptick of supernaturally-related crimes. But it's actually nice. Hank could do this. Forever. Holy shit.
The moment he realizes that, he goes out and buys them both matching gold bands. The boxes burn a hole in his pocket for a week before he musters up the guts to actually ask. They've just taken the days off for the full moon so they're both a little tired but they have to go to work. Hank knows his timing's awful, but he just can't hold it in anymore.
He waits for Gavin to join him in the car and turns toward him. He's barely got the keys in the ignition. Christ, it's nerve-wracking though. Maybe he should wait. What's a few more days? What's... no, he can't do this anymore. ]

[ Incredibly good. Babcia's package came in the mail a couple days after their phone call and the little necklace trinket she supplied solved all of Eli's sexual frustration problems. (Although he's gonna tease his brother about this forever.)

So there they are, heading into work. Gavin's tapping a random beat on his thighs when Hank starts to speak. He seems nervous. He's always so cute when he's feeling shy. Gavin just gives him one of his half smiles half smirks. ]
Yeah? You wanna try to explain this 'mate' shit to them or something?
[ It's a little weird. Certainly if you're not a werewolf who has to deal with instincts and all the rest. But Hank's not thinking in those terms right this second. He reaches into his jacket pocket, fishing around for the tiny box. ]
It's just, uh. I figured... I don't wanna presume or anything, but we're basically married so... do you wanna make it official? [ He's so nervous. ] I guess. Will you marry me?
[ He's just smiling until he sees Hank fumble out a small box. And... oh. Gavin's eyes go wide and he just gawks at him.
Looks at the box. Looks at Hank. Box. Hank. Back and forth. Then his words register and he barely notices them over the rushing of his own heartbeat in his ears. ]
I. [ His voice comes out like a squeak. Gavin blinks and then in a flash he's rushed over and flung himself into Hank, kissing the daylights out of him. ]
Woah-- [ Hank's got nowhere to run what with the two of them being in the car, but it's not like he'd want to, even if Gavin almost knocks the wind out of him with this kiss. His hands are kinda trapped but that's ok. Nothing wrong there, Hank's a little distracted at the moment, too. He laughs as soon as he can get some breathing room. Wow, that's a relief. ]
'Is that a yes?' [ Gavin jokes to hide that his eyes are welling up. He aggressively sniffs. ] Yes, you fucking— Holy shit.
[ He pulls away enough to give Hank some room to do things with his eyes, wiping his eyes on his sleeve. ] Of course you pop the question when we're going to work...!
[ Aww, Gavin. Hank pulls him into a hug. Who cares if they're still in the car? ]

[ Hank's just glad it seems to have gone over well. He's overjoyed, really, even if he's playing it cool for Gavin's sake. He had to buy the rings and do all that but getting to see Gavin's joy makes it all worth it. ]

[ His hand looks fucking perfect now. Wow indeed. He looks at it, tilting it this way and that. Clenching and unclenching. He looks back up at Hank, still beaming. ]

[ He's joking to hide how a few happy tears slip down his cheeks. ]
